CAREpath selected as Health Innovation Team to provide after hours care to cancer patients

MISSISSAUGA, ON (December 27, 2017) – CAREpath, a division of Bayshore Healthcare Ltd., has been selected by the Ontario Ministry of Health and Long Term Care to improve patient care at home and in the community.

As part of a Health Innovation Team, CAREPath will be working with Southlake Regional Health Centre, MedChart Inc., Sunnybrook Health Science Centre/Odette Cancer Program, Princess Margaret Cancer Centre, University Health Network and Royal Victoria Regional Health Centre to develop software combining telemedicine and real-time shared access to online health records to improve symptom management for cancer patients and reduce avoidable visits to emergency departments.

Ontario is providing grants for 12 new projects through the Health Technologies Fund, which supports the development of Ontario-based health technologies that improve care for people, boost the impact of investments in health innovation and grow health innovation companies.

This is the second round of Health Technologies Fund investments by Ontario this year. The 2017-18 grants are focused on market-ready projects that have the potential to improve patient outcomes and bring value to the health care system. Grants awarded range from $294,000 to $500,000, totalling $5.5 million. The grant received by the Health Innovation Team CAREpath is part of, totals $497,620.
