Job Summary:

The Clinical Educator, under the direction of the Director of Clinical Management, will act as a consultant, educator and researcher to support the Branch in the delivery of quality care and services, which is compliant with internal and external professional practice standards.

 

Duties and Responsibilities:

Act as a resource and provide support to the Branch clinical staff and Community Health Workers , as requested, to ensure compliance with all relevant federal and provincial legislated standards or professional practice as well as internal polices.
? Demonstrate knowledge of Standard of Practice guidelines of Provincial regulating body.
? Liaise with Provincial regulating body as required.
? Conduct research on best practice and clinical issues
? Lead clinical education projects identified by the Clinical Managers and/or the Director of Clinical Management
? Conducts bi-weekly clinical orientation education for new hire employees
? Provide Community Health Worker competency education courses, specialized course as required for specific areas/needs, and annual recommended education training sessions
? Monitor Community Health Worker education and competency reporting and proactively plan education to exceed reporting requirements
? Participate in health authority education meetings or committees as required
? Participate in ongoing internal and/or external continuing education activities
? Participate in quality activities and continuous improvement initiatives in keeping with the
company's Quality Management System
? Participates in proactive Health & Safety activities while performing all duties. Is responsible to
notify immediate Supervisor of any Health & Safety risks or concerns.
? Maintains confidentiality of client and corporate information and discusses same only
with appropriate personnel
? Assume the responsibilities for clinical operations in the absence of the Director of Clinical Management
? Complete other tasks as requested
 

Experience:

At least five years of recent experience with progressive responsibility as a Manager of Clinical Practice or
Manager with minimum of three years adult palliative care nursing experience preferably in a community setting; strong track record in leading the development and evaluation of training programs. Knowledge of theoretical frameworks and research application. Experience and ability to convey information to regulated and unregulated health care professionals. Dementia experience.
 

Education:

Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing, preferably with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BScN).
Current registration with the College of Nurses of British Columbia is required. Attained or working toward comprehensive Advanced Palliative Care Education (CAPCE) designation. Has attained CAN
Hospice Palliative Care Certification or has equivalent course/experience and expertise in Hospice
Palliative Care. Instructor certificate preferred
